Akil qualified from Guy's, Kings and St Thomas' School of dentistry in 2003. He undertook his vocational training and was a senior house officer in restorative dentistry. He achieved Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS), Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2005.
Akil completed his specialist training at the internationally renowned Eastman Dental Institute of Clinical Excellence, University College London. In 2009, as part of the specialist training, he qualified with distinction as Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) in fixed and removable prosthodontics. He subsequently gained Membership in Prosthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Akil focuses on all aspects of restorative dentistry, including crowns, bridges, dentures, implants and all complex restorative cases.
His interest in Tooth Surface Loss is well supported by publication in the British Dental Journal and presentation at the International Academy of Dental Research. Akil takes referrals from General Practitioners to assist them on complex cases as well as holding a clinical teaching post at the Eastman Dental Institute where he is involved with postgraduate training and research.
